Looking Back to Look Ahead

By Sarah Reilly - Macaroni Kid Springfield August 17, 2020

I am so excited for this to be my very first newsletter.  I have spent several weeks trying to decide what I should say, how should I introduce you to our family and finally I realized I should just take a look back.  This photo is one that hangs on our living room wall.  It is several years old and I am now the mother of two legal adults.  I have no idea how I got to that point, it sounds cliched to say they were only babies yesterday but it's one hundred percent true.

This photo represents the last time they were all "kids".  The oldest two boys hadn't gotten their first jobs yet, our daughter was just about to go into middle school and my littlest guys were only in pre-school.  Now they aren't babies anymore.  The oldest ones both work, my second born will be a high school senior, my daughter a freshman.  Those two little guys, my babies?  They are entering second grade.  It is amazing how fast it goes, I remember rolling my eyes every time my grandmother would say "blink and you'll miss it".  She wasn't lying.

With this look back I was able to reflect on what Macaroni Kid means to me, I have subscribed to this newsletter for over 10 years.  I enjoyed Kelly's enthusiasm as a mother, her suggestions for fun activities and her sparkle.  I promise I will do my best to fill her shoes and share in my enthusiasm as a mom, give you great suggestions for you and your family and yes even try to sparkle.

Thank you for sticking with Macaroni Kid!
