Finding Date Night

By Sarah Reilly - Macaroni Kid Springfield August 24, 2020

Having five kids makes Date Night almost nonexistent.  My husband and I have found ways to squeeze in date nights when we can.  We currently work for the same company so if I am already there he will often come in a little early when I take my lunch break and bring me lunch.  In this picture I was working at a local charity golf tournament representing our company, we got a babysitter and he came with me.  We spent the entire day sitting outside at a beautiful golf course together, we had dinner with the golfers and even won a couple raffle prizes.  It was a fantastic day.  My absolute favorite time spent together was back when the three oldest kids were little.  Our local grocery store had a Kid's Club where you could leave your children for up to two hours while you shopped.  Once a week we would check the kids into the club, walk over to the pizza counter and get two slices of pizza and talk for half an hour or so before we did our shopping and picked the kids back up.  The kids loved it and we were able to get a little time together.

There is nothing glamorous or textbook romantic about sitting in a golf cart all day together or eating lukewarm pizza at the grocery store surrounded by shoppers on a random Wednesday but it became our version of romance.  Having kids and being married is HARD!  There isn't always time for the usual dinner and a movie or whatever constitutes a date these days.  It is even harder in these times of quarantine and social distancing, but there is time to spend together if you get creative.

I hope you find a fun and creative way to spend with your significant other this week!
