Giving Back This Holiday Season

By Sarah Reilly - Publisher of Macaroni Kid Springfield December 10, 2020

The Gagnon family of Springfield are known for their massive Christmas displays on Fair Oak Road in Springfield. It takes months of planning for this large scale display.  For the last five years, these beautiful displays have lit up their front lawn. Every year, the displays got bigger.  This year Roger Gagnon estimates there are more than 75,000 lights.  The yard has different sections that each tell a story.  Our favorite characters from the classic kids movie Rudolph are joined by the Peanuts gang.  There is an "ice" rink and even Candy Land!

This year the family is helping to give back to the community.  They are collecting toys for children in the foster system, non-perishable food for United Service Organizations, and the Ronald McDonald House.  To date more than 300 toys have been dropped off in the collection bins by their front gate.

“It’s why we do it,” said Tricia. “We want to give back. We’ve been so blessed and given so much in our lives that it’s just why we can do this so every little bit is helpful.”

Toy donations can be left through December 17th. The display will run through the New Year at 101 Fair Oak Road in Springfield, MA.
