7 Ideas for Free or Cheap Fun In Springfield This Summer

There are lots of ways to have fun in Springfield this summer, without spending much!

Looking for cheap summer fun in Springfield? Check out our 7 ideas for summer fun in Springfield, MA:

1. Visit a playground.

There are so many playgrounds in the area! Some of our favorites are listed below:

Heritage Park (East Longmeadow, MA)

There's ample parking, a duck pond and playground with equipment for bigger and younger kids. There are also swings.


Wilbraham Children's Museum Playground (Wilbraham, MA)

This is a small, enclosed playground with interesting


Forest Park has it all! Ponds, ducks, playgrounds (2), zoo, farmer's market (Tuesdays!), pool, splash pad, volleyball nets, paved walking paths, gazebos, bathrooms and concession stands. There is a $3 fee to enter the park ($12 season pass).

2. Cool off at a splash pad

Did you know that the Ludlow Community Center / Randall Boys & Girls Club has a splash pad?! This is free and open to the public. Call for updated hours.


The Lupa Zoo also has a playground and splash pad, however, there is a fee to enter the zoo.

3. Go to the library!

We are blessed to have so many wonderful libraries and library programs in our area.

Hampden Library

Hubbard Memorial Library (Ludlow, MA)

Storrs Library (Longmeadow, MA)

There are playgroups by Pathways for Parents and Home-City-Families. There are also reading clubs, crafts, performances and more! Most of these libraries also have toys for young kids to play with while at the library.

4. Enjoy live music.

5. Take a Tinkergarten trial class!

June 17th, 2022 at 11AM - 12PM we will be meeting at Forest Park (park at Cyr Arena). Get to know Tinkergarten and enjoy some time outdoors!

6. Go to a Farmer's Market.
