So many wonderful area playgrounds to choose from!

Springfield has many playgrounds to choose from. Here are some of our favorites!

1. Forest Park (Springfield) - There is a $3 entrance fee, but you can also park on a side street and walk in for free. Tuesdays is the Farmer's Market (free entrance at Trafton Road gate). There are two playgrounds, two public restrooms, baseball diamond, variety of gardens and ponds. There's plenty of space to run, bike and push a stroller. There are police cars that patrol the park regularly, so I feel safe going there with my kids. The Forest Park Zoo is open seasonally.

2. Blunt Park (Springfield) - Public restrooms, playground, picnic & grilling area, soccer & football fields, basketball & tennis courts.

3. Riverfront Park (downtown Springfield) - Public restrooms, picnic tables, kayak and canoe rentals, playground, paved paths for walking and jogging.

4. Wilbraham Children's Museum (Wilbraham)- Adorable enclosed playground with many options for kids under the age of 6. There's a sandbox, swings, pirate ship, mini school bus and more. But beware: no public restroom! Plan ahead.

Some of our other favorite playgrounds near to Springfield:

5. Connor's Place (Somers, CT) - enclosed playground with structures for toddlers and kids of all ages. Port-a-potty [usually] available.

6. Community Fiels Park (Holyoke) - playground structures for kids aged 6+ as well as toddlers. This is one of the largest playgrounds in western Massachusetts! Picnic tables and paved walkways for strollers also available.

7. Jessica's Boundless Playground (Belchertown) - Wheelchair accessible, this is a playground for all abilities and ages. This is a favorite for many families!

8. Look Park (Florence) - $5 entrance fee ($10 on weekends and holidays). Open 9AM-7PM. Ice cream shop, train rides, goats, mini golf, spray park, pedal boats, pavilions & picnic tables. Many walking paths and wide-open spaces to run, jump and do cartwheels!

9. Mt. Tom (Holyoke) - Playground nestled at the base of many hiking and walking paths. We like to go to the playground first, then on to walk around the beautiful reservoir. There are many beautiful views of the Pioneer Valley.

10. Groff Park (Amherst) - Beautiful park. Play structures for toddlers and kids. Splash pad. Sandbox, picnic tables, restrooms. Walking paths for strollers or scooters.

Honorable mention: Totally worth the drive!

Northwest Park (Windsor, CT) - Hiking trails, walking paths, pond. 473 acres to explore! Beautiful hidden gem.
